This is the second Superman family story arc in which a malevolent supervillain kidnaps Superboy. However, the series takes an unexpected, and for this reader, unwelcome turn to the dark side.For decades, fearless reporter Lois Lane brazenly risked her life to get a story. In this issue, there are unexpected consequences to her careless disregard for her safety.
Instead of reliably flying to Lois' rescue, as he has for decades, Superman is distracted and oblivious to his wife's peril. She pays the price by losing her leg.
Even worse, the couple's 10-year-old son is forced to watch while imprisoned by the supervillain behind the mystery of the family's adopted hometown of Hamilton County.
While this story is well-written and well-illustrated, in this reader's opinion, it was disturbing and unnecessarily violent.

That was amazing, the build up for this has been a long time coming and boy has it paid off. This is comic book story building!
